    Hike Arroyo Hondo

April, May and early June is the season for spectacular flowering cactus. This is a site not to be missed! The panoramic views of Santa Fe and, in the distance, the Sandia and Ortiz Mountains are breathtaking. The Arroyo Hondo Open Space is a nice loop just south downtown Santa Fe. The trailhead is just 3 miles from the Santa Fe Plaza. This easy to moderate hike into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is a joy for all ages and abilities. The hike lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours with a 250-foot elevation gain. This hike is a joy for shutter bugs of all skill levels.
